Sony VAIO X ultra-thin 700g

Sony Corp. released preliminary information on the hyperfine ultraportable, VAIO X. The netbook will present at a press conference on consumer electronics show, IFA 2009, which opens tomorrow (4 September) in Berlin.

The thickness of the Sony VAIO X is a total of 14mm. Sony VAIO X netbook is based on Intel Atom processor and is equipped with 11-inch display. Among the features new items mentioned card reader, two USB port, analog D-Sub connector for an external monitor, and 3G mobile networks.

But the main advantage of the notebook is a thin 14mm shell. That is, Sony VAIO X thinner than Apple Macbook Air, the thickness of the shell is equal to about 19mm. In addition, its weighs is 700g, which is partly achieved through the use of carbon-fiber hull structure.

It is expected that a full list of technical characteristics of the ultraportable will be released next month. Sale of this Sony VAIO X netbook will be end of the year, and its price, according to observers, would be between the $1500 to $2000 price ranges.
