Sprint Samsung Instinct HD phone, support HDTV capabilities

Samsung and Sprint US cellular operator announced a Sprint’s third Instinct phone, Instinct HD mobile phone.

A key feature of the new Samsung Instinct HD is the ability to output video in HD quality on an external display via HDTV. But the “high definition” playback directly on phone is not supported.

Samsung Instinct HD is equipped with 3.2-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 320×480 pixels and 16 million colors, accelerometer and ambient light sensor, GPS receiver module, Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi, Opera Mobile 9.7 Web browser and a 5-megapixel camera with video recording in HD resolution of 720p (1280×720 pixels).

Samsung Instinct HD Phone is designed to work in CDMA EV-DO Rev A connectivity. Its battery is provides up to 5.8 hours in talk time. Samsung Instinct HD will be available for purchasing on September 27 via Best Buy and October 11 in Sprint retail channels. Its price is as low as $249.99 with a 2-year contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate. Samsung Instinct HD is replaces the “old” Instinct, introduced in April 2009.
