Synology DiskStation DS1010+ NAS server for SOHO
Taiwanese company, Synology has introduced their latest scalable storage NAS server, called Synology DiskStation DS1010+. It is designed for small and medium businesses in NAS solution. Synology DiskStation DS1010+ NAS server has five built-in bays for storage with hot-swappable drive feature, and offering up to 10TB of total space.
In addition, it is available Synology DX510 as special extension that able to add additional five bays drive. Thus, the total capacity of the new Synology DiskStation DS1010+ network attached storage can reach 20TB. This Synology DX510 is available till March 2010. Synology DX510 is connected to the Synology DiskStation DS1010 NAS server through the eSATA cable with special connectors. That has speed of reading and writing data up to 115MB/s and 109MB/s, respectively.
Synology DiskStation DS1010+ has features a 1.67GHz processor, 1GB of DDR2 with upgradeable to 2GB/3GB. Dimensions of DS1010+ are 157x248x233 mm and weight is 4.25kg.
In addition, Synology DiskStation DS1010+ NAS server supports multiple simultaneous requests from different clients. According to the manufacturer, the Synology DiskStation DS1010+ takes about 30 seconds to process 1,000 simultaneous requests.
Synology DiskStation DS1010+ includes two Gigabit Ethernet port and four USB ports. Synology DiskStation DS1010+ is equipped with DiskStation Manager 2.2 software with integrated Windows ADS, encrypted FTP server, e-mail and web servers, as well as a heavy backup solution. Synology DiskStation DS1010+ NAS server is already available now but its cost is not reported.
