Toshiba JournE Touch, new 7-inch MID with Windows CE

Toshiba has introduced at the IFA 2009 in Berlin, Journe Touch mobile internet device (MID) with 7-inch touch screen. It runs under Windows operating system, Windows CE 6.0 Pro, which adds an interface optimized for finger control. The display resolution is 800×480 pixels, contrast Ratio is 300:1. For storage of content provided 1GB of internal memory, with SD/SDHC memory card can be increased up to 32GB. Also it has supported formats MMC, MS/MS Pro and xD.

Toshiba Journe Touch mobile internet device focuses mainly on the use of different social networks and services, including YouTube, AceTrax, FrameChannel, Picasa, Flickr and MSN Messenger, said Toshiba. It has provides browser based on Internet Explorer 6. Toshiba Journe Touch can connect use Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g or cellular networks, however, this would require an external modem, and it can be installed in the existing USB port. There is an HDMI out (1080p) which provides users with additional flexibility to view content in HD ready TVs and laptops.

Journe Touch supports JPEG images and BMP, MP3 audio and video in MPEG4 and H.264. Internal battery is sufficient for seven hours in audio playback and two hours of web-surfing. It is expected that the cost of Toshiba JournE Touch will be 249 euros.
