According to the data in the IDG Newswire, Toshiba in the next two months plans to release an external battery charger for the battery that runs on direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). Such devices could be used for charging portable electronics; cell phones, players, game consoles and the like, instead of connecting them to the mains. Previously, the Toshiba promised to carry out such charger release in March of this year, but this did not happen.

The charger is based on DMFC generates electricity by the reaction between methanol, water and air. Such a system will provide only a small amount of water and carbon dioxide, and is therefore more environmentally friendly than traditional batteries. In addition, ending the cartridge with methanol can be quickly replaced by a new one. Further Toshiba products in the fuel cells are expected to laptops and mobile phones.
