Toshiba MKxx61GSYD self-encrypting HDD

Toshiba Storage Device Division (SDD) has today introduced a new 2.5-inch hard drive of MKxx61GSYD series. It is designed for mobile consumer applications (notebooks for example).

Toshiba MKxx61GSYD hard drive is comply with the Opal Security Subsystem Class (Opal SSC) specification, published by Trusted Computing Group in January last year. This global standard is broadly supported by leading security solutions providers.

The Toshiba MKxx61GSYD HDD or SED (self-encryption drives) is built-in government-grade AES-256 hardware encryption incorporated that offers strong data encryption and access authentication.

New MKxx61GSYD has features 7200rpm rotational speed, 16MB of cache, SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, and comes in 160GB, 250GB, 320GB, 500GB, and 640GB of storage capacities. Size of Toshiba MKxx61GSYD drive is 100 x 70 x 9.5 mm.

Toshiba has already started sampling its MKxx61GSYD and mass production scheduled for Q1 2011.
