VESA standardized Mini DisplayPort connector

Organization of Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) has standardized the specification of a small video connector, Mini DisplayPort (mDP), which are now fully within the parameters of the standard, DisplayPort version 1.1a.

Mini DisplayPort Interface is developed by Apple, designed for connection to monitors of different peripherals. With the connector, it can send an image with resolution up to 2560×1600 pixels, for the usual 30-inch display. Mini DisplayPort connector is significantly less common interfaces, DVI and D-Sub.

While a license to use interface is provided free of charge, so far the device with support for Mini DisplayPort only produced mainly by Apple. As expected, the official VESA certification will facilitate the emergence of an increasing number of models with the support of a miniature connector.

Currently finalizing a VESA standard DisplayPort 1.2, it is a promising increase in the interface bandwidth to 21.6 Gbps, and maximum resolution is up to 3840×2160 pixels.
