ViewSonic has released two new portable media players in Taiwan, View Show VPD500 and View Show VPD400. Both are designed for watching video on the go. New portable media players have screen resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. This, according to the manufacturer, it is among the highest in the market for these class of devices.

ViewSonic View Show VPD500 has 5-inch display and comes with 16GB of internal memory, while ViewSonic View Show VPD400 has a 4.3-inch display and 8 GB of memory. Both models have a slot for microSD/SDHC memory card, supports up to 32GB. The battery provides up to 4 hours of work in the video playback or up to 15 hours of music playback.

ViewSonic also added their models for component video output, through which players can connect to your TV and view images with a resolution of 720p. The connection to computer is trough USB interface. ViewSonic VPD500 and VPD400 supports most common video codec formats such as AVI, Real Media, FLV, MOV, DAT (DVD), MPEG 1/2/4, VOB, DivX and H.264, also supported by audio formats such as MP3, WMA, WAV, APE and FLAC and image formats; JPEG, BMP, GIF. The devices also provided function as an electronic book reader.

Both players will be available in black, white and pink colors. These Portable players will go on sale in August 2009 at the Asia-Pacific market, they appear later in Europe, and most likely in the United States. Currently, the price of View Show VPD400 in Taiwan is about $152, and View Show VPD500 is about $183.
