Vodafone introduced the budget mobile phones at the Mobile World Congress 2010 (MWC 2010), called Vodafone 150 and Vodafone 250.
Its most affordable ultra low cost handsets will be launching in the first instance in India, Turkey, Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Qatar, South Africa, and Tanzania. Cost of Vodafone 150 phone will not exceed $15 and the Vodafone 250 phone will be less than $20.
Vodafone 150 is equipped with a monochrome display, while Vodafone 250 is color display and FM tuner. Both Vodafone low cost phones support work with SMS messaging and mobile payment services.
The Vodafone 150 and 250 are manufactured by Chinese company, TCL, which is produces mobile phones under the brand Alcatel.
