Western Digital (WD) has released an external hard drive with USB 3.0 connectivity. This WD My Book 3.0 external HDD will be available in capacities of 1TB or 2TB, although currently only available first model.

WD My Book 3.0 external hard drive feature high-speed USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface, instead of USB 2.0 interface.

The WD My Book 3.0 USB 3.0 SuperSpeed External Hard Drive is capable transfer capacity up to 5 Gbps, with up to 10 times faster than the previous version of USB.

Regarding prices, the 1TB WD My Book 3.0 version will cost $179.99 and the 2TB version has no price yet. Although the price of the USB 3.0 PCIe (gen2) adapter card is additional $20, still a good option to update your computer. At Amazon.com, it is available for pre-order with price just $149.99.
