Xiaomi Red Rice (Hongmi) with 4.7-inch and quad-core CPU, gets officially

Xiaomi, the Chinese phone maker, has recently official introduced its new smartphone, the Xiaomi Red Rice or Xiaomi Hongmi. The handset is actually Xiaomi’s cheapest Android smartphone in market, even it’s cheaper than the Xiaomi MI2A (unveiled back in April). New Xiaomi Red Rice is a low-end smartphone that listed at price of 799 Yuan (meaning $130 or €99). That’s price at fully unlocked version, which allows to use with any providers and of course, no-contract. The company offers a range of color body including black, white and red.

This super affordable smartphone runs Xiaomi’s MIUI V5 operating system, which is a custom ROM based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. It boasts a quad-core 1.5GHz 28nm MediaTek MT6589 Turbo processor paired with PowerVR SGX544 graphics and a removable 2,000 mAh battery. The Xiaomi Hongmi (Red Rice) packs a 4.7-inch HD IPS touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 resolution and protected by Gorilla Glass 2. So, its size and resolution screen is same as the upcoming Motorola X smartphone.

The 8-Megapixel rear camera has F2.2 28mm lens and capable to 1080p video recording. The front-facing is a 720p camera for video chats or self-portrait. In memory term, Xiaomi Red Rice has 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory with expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).
